Nala's Birthday! -- Our Kitty Turns 3!

Hello, everyone!  Today is Nala's birthday and she turns 3!  I can't believe it!  Paul and I adopted her as a 10-week-old kitten back in June of 2012 and since she didn't have an official birthdate, I made an estimate.  In my eyes our sweet, cuddly and stubborn cat's birthday is on March 31st.  Here's some of Nala's favorite photos!

**Let's have today's post just be furry and cute!**

Miss Nala, posing for the camera and about to take a cat nap.
She needs her beauty sleep!

One of my favorite photos of her!  She's so
innocent and cute when she's sleeping!

This is one of Nala's favorite spots, right here on the large club chair.  She loves
cuddling up on the handpainted COZY pillow I made.

Our baby loves Christmas... especially the real tree we got this year.  She loved
hiding under it and attacking my ornaments!  I do love this picture though :)

I hope you all loved this furry-filled post!  If you enjoyed please google+, comment and join this site (follow) for more :) Also you can now follow me on Bloglovin' and the button is on the upper right panel of this page.  You have an amazing rest of your day!

Grey & Silver Accent Nails --- Using So Gloss Nail Wraps

Hello, everyone!  Here today with another nail post featuring some new nail wraps by So Gloss Nail Wraps that I'm trying for the first time.  This look is rather simple with a dash of silver which I love.  I really enjoy doing these nail themed posts for you guys... I must say, because of this blog my nails have never looked this good!

I used Julep brand in Winona (grey shade) and their Oxygen Performing Top Coat.  I do love the shade Winona, but I'm sad to report that it needed THREE coats to turn completely opaque and even.  The top coat is okay, it's not my favorite, but decided I should use it since I am using a Julep polish already.

The bit of surprise to my nails today are these So Gloss Nail Wraps, which I received for free when I signed up for my Vegan Cuts February Beauty Box.  I was one of the first 200 new customers, so I was lucky enough to get these.  They're definitely my style and I love the metallic silver on them!  These wraps are applied just like Jamberry Nail Wraps, if you're familiar with those.  Basically they're stickers that you fit to your nail and you add heat to them so the form perfectly to your nail.  I enjoy nail wraps, but they do take some practice.

My favorite way to use them are on certain nails versus all my fingers.  Plus, it makes them last longer!  I ended up placing wraps on my ring and thumb nails on my left hand and my pointer and pinky nails on my right hand.  Figured I'd mix it up a bit!  These silver wraps are numbered 220 at the bottom of my package.

Their website is www.so-gloss.com and I did want to mention that they're made in New York.  Pretty cool right?  What are your experiences with nail wraps?  Let me know below!  If you enjoyed please google+, comment and join this site (follow) for more :) Also you can now follow me on Bloglovin' and the button is on the upper right panel of this page.  You have an amazing rest of your day!

Hello, everyone!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I hope you are all having a great week :)  I figured I'd start the week with a simple little post for this Irish holiday featuring some of my favorite green colored beauty products.  I went through my vanity and bathroom and grabbed anything green, so here we go!

As mentioned earlier, these are some of my favorite products and beauty tools that just so happen to have green packaging.  Unfortunately, most of these items aren't actually green in color, so the packaging itself will have to do!

Simple Sunday - Quickie + Mini Update

Hello, everyone!  Thanks for joining me for another Simple Sunday post.  Unfortunately, today's post is going to be a shorter update because I have gotten sick and am not feeling well.  No matter what, I did want to come to you guys to keep everything on schedule!  So, let's get into it!

This is a picture from Saturday.  This little one DID NOT
want me to get any work done!

As mentioned above, this is a photo from Saturday while I was trying... hence, "trying" to get some work done.  Cats have a way of just putting themselves right in the middle of a situation.  You may not know, but I work from home and one of my main jobs is selling on Amazon.  I specialize in selling used books--I buy to then resell--and I send them to Amazon's Fulfillment Centers.  So, I was in the process of adding books to my inventory when Nala decided to drop in!  Thank goodness I was able to finish the entire box and it's ready to head to UPS because today I need to take it easy.  If you'd like to learn more about me, go ahead and visit my ABOUT PAGE :)

Our movie plan tonight: Alien Trilogy.  Never seen these movies before, but I'll
give them a shot!  Not quite sure they'll be my cup of tea though.

My boyfriend is working today, but will be off soon and we can officially start our Sunday and weekend.  We like keeping things pretty low key and staying in, so I love this time.  While I'm trying to pass this little bug I have and we're definitely becoming couch potatoes for the day.  We're off to watch the Alien Trilogy and get some food.  Another great thing about Sunday: it's my night off from cooking!  Hoot, hoot!

Thanks for sticking around for such a small Simple Sunday post.  I hope you're having a fantastic day!  What have you been up to?  What's the weather like near you? Comment down below!  If you enjoyed please google+, comment and join this site (follow) for more.  Also you can now follow me on Bloglovin' and the button is on the upper right panel of this page.  You have an amazing rest of your day!

Introducing Red Apple Lipstick -- Fresh & Natural Lips

Hello, everyone!  How is your week going so far?  Mine's been pretty good and I'm happy to report that the snow is finally melting!  For today's post, I am excited to share with you my current favorite lipstick, which is by Red Apple Lipstick.  It was a product I received in my February Vegan Cuts Beauty Box that I quickly fell in love with.  If you missed that post & unboxing, you can view that HERE.

I've heard of Red Apple Lipstick before and have several shades on my beauty wishlist, but never got around to ordering from them.  What really attracts me to this brand is the quality on not only the lipstick itself, but even the ingredients used and the packaging (my lipstick came with a card, the box & even the drawstring bag.)  The company's slogan: The Safe Lipstick.  Red Apple Lipstick is a mineral based lipstick that is vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, paragon-free, soy free and more.  The next huge plus: it's also MADE IN THE USA!  Being a union worker's girlfriend, I can really appreciate that!

My shade is called Love My Kiss, which is a beautiful pinkish-red with a hint of shimmer and shine.  I absolutely LOVE this color and I can see why it's one of their best sellers.  This shade is vibrant and adds life to your face the second you apply it.  I also find it very smooth, easy to apply and super moisturizing.  This product gets a solid thumbs UP, for sure :)

Know that you know my current favorite lipstick, what's yours?  Leave it down below!  You can visit Red Apple Lipstick, HERE.  If you enjoyed please google+, comment and join this site (follow) for more.  Also you can now follow me on Bloglovin' and the button is on the upper right panel of this page.  You have an amazing rest of your day and I'll see YOU on Saturday!

Shamrock Chic - St. Patty's Day Nail Edition

Hello, everyone!  Happy 1-week to St. Patrick's Day!  Today's post is a two-in-one featuring a festive nail look and a mini review on these new drugstore nail polishes.  Although I'm not Irish, I still thought it would be fun to do a little somethin' somethin' ;)  I'll make any excuse to try a new nail theme!  Here's the details!

When planning this look, I wanted to keep it simple and find the perfect green.  I decided to try Wet n Wild's polishes for the first time. These are new on the market and I found them at Meijer, my go-to grocery supermarket.  The specific line are Wet n Wild Wild Shine and they retail for only .99 cents each!  I was also pleasantly surprised that they are 3-Free, which means they are free of these toxic chemicals: toluene, phthalate and formaldehyde.

I chose two shades: 484C Do Pass Go (Green) and 450B Clear Nail Protector.  I really wanted to see how these polishes performed, so I made sure to buy their top coat.  To add a bit of glitzy glamour, I placed a silver flower detail on both of my ring fingers.  I purchased my nail art at Ulta and the brand is Essence.  The photos you're seeing are of Day 2 nails, in case you're curious.  So far, I really like these and the color was perfect after a second coat.  They have a ton of beautiful shades that I plan on trying out soon, especially for Spring & Summer.

I hope you liked this nail look and quick review combo.  I can't wait to get my hands on more of these polishes and really put them to the test!  Have you tried any Wet n Wild nail products?  Let me know below!  If you enjoyed please google+, comment and join this site (follow) for more.  Also you can now follow me on Bloglovin' and the button is on the upper right panel of this page.  You have an amazing rest of your day and I'll see YOU on Thursday!

Simple Sunday - Off Shopping at Bass Pro & Target!

Hello, everyone!  How's your weekend going?  Welcome back for another Simple Sunday and today I'm taking you along on our shopping trip.  Paul and I are off to run to a couple of our favorite stores including Bass Pro Shop and Target.  It was Paul's idea for us to go shopping and get out of the house.  I got to chose a store--Target was an easy choice--and pick an entire outfit... I know, I'm pretty lucky :)

Outside of Bass Pro with all the fishing boats, four wheelers and sidebysides.
Bass Pro Shop is one of our favorite places to go and located right in Auburn Hills, MI.  It's the best place around for all things outdoors and they have the coolest displays.  The building is huge and features large animal mounts, fireplaces and everything for outdoorsmen from camping to hunting to fishing... you name it.  They even have the cutest country cabin home decor section that I love.  We went there for fly fishing stuff and it was a huge success: rod, flies and all!  Paul loves hunting and fishing, so I've seen a lot of this place!

Inside Bass Pro...I love the country feel and the huge stone fireplace.  This is
only the entryway into the store!  This the general theme throughout the building.
This place is country from floor to ceiling!
Then we checked out Target's new clothing and shoes collection.  I recently watched a haul video from MakeupByTiffanyD and ever since seeing her Target footwear finds, I couldn't stop thinking about it!  I used to shop there all the time and can't remember why I ever stopped.  They have so many new designs and I'm so in love with all the shoes.  I ended up finding a pair of espadrilles, some clothing and a couple new beauty products to try.

Nala is ending today's post!  I was trying to inventory
more books and she wasn't having it!  What is it with cats and boxes?
Thanks for joining me for another Simple Sunday.  How did you spend yours?  Do you guys like these types of posts?  Share your opinions below!  If you enjoyed please google+, comment and join this site (follow) for more.  Also you can now follow me on Bloglovin' and the button is on the upper right panel of this page.  You have an amazing rest of your day and I'll see YOU on Tuesday!

Reveal - Himalayan Rock Salt Lamps - Details & Benefits

Hello, everyone!  Back today with a reveal on a new product I've been loving.  This is actually the first time sharing a home decor item and something you guys may not know about me is that I love decorating/organizing.  It's one of my favorite things!  I wanted to show you my Himalayan Salt Lamp that was a Christmas present from Paul's grandparents.

A closeup to the lamp in natural daylight, not lit. It's a beautiful stone.

What are they?
Himalayan Salt Lamps -also called Crystal Salt Lamps- are carved from natural rock salt crystals in salt mines deep underneath the Himalayan Mountains.  These lamps are a simple design.  One large chunk of himalayan salt with a hole drilled at the bottom for the light bulb and cord.  They're known for their many health benefits (see list below) because of the negative ions the lamp emits, which lends to purifying the air in your home.

They also double as a great home decor piece.  That's what originally drew me to these lamps... I love the beautiful colors, especially when the lamp is lit at night.  Each piece is one-a-kind and rage in all shades of amber and orange that give off a gorgeous glow.

What do they do?
Here's the power of these lamps!  I hope you're ready for this because I was surprised and here are some of the benefits:

*Improves air quality
*Reduces the risk of asthma, allergy and immune deficiency problems.
*Minimizes the effects of all radiation, pollution and smog from the air.
*Removes and destroys viruses and airborne bacteria to prevent seasonal illness.
*Reduces the effects of allergies to dust, pollen and pets.
*Aids sufferers of headaches, insomnia or general fatigue.
*MY FAVORITE: Claims to balance and levels of serotonin, which is a chemical in the brain that's associated with anxiety and mood stress that can lead to people feeling more alert, stable and energized.

The lamp lit during the day.  Very pretty, but even better at night!

Where can I find them?
As I mentioned earlier, the lamp was gift and is from Woodland Creek Furniture.  I've been wanting one of these lamps for awhile and also found them on Amazon (find them here).  They're made in a variety of sizes and shapes, so the larger and heavier the lamp, the more it will cost.

Pretty cool, right?  I just had to share this neat product with you!  What are your thoughts?  Have you heard of these lamps?  Comment down below!  If you enjoyed please google+, comment and join this site (follow) for more.  You have an amazing rest of your day and see YOU on Saturday!

Tea Tuesday - Triple Leaf White Tea Review

Hello, everyone!  Another Tea Tuesday is already among us.. can you believe it?  It feels like I was just reviewing February's.  If you're completely confused on what it is I'm referring to, Tea Tuesday is a monthly segment where I share a new tea on the first Tuesday.  Hence, Tea Tuesday.  I thought it had a nice ring to it :)  Now let's get started!

For March, I chose Triple Leaf's White Tea (find it here) to review.  They offer a huge variety of all sorts of tea blends and most of them claim to aid in certain issues including sleep aid, detox, liver cleanse, etc.  However, I've been sticking to their more basic options, such as green tea and white tea.  Their green tea is actually my favorite green tea of all-time and I've repurchased several times, so that's what lead me to try this one.

Please note: This post contains affiliate links through Magic Links.

Tripe Leaf's White Tea is my current favorite white tea on the market!  If you prefer milder teas or are new to drinking tea in general, I recommend you try white tea.  It's known to be one of the least processed of all the teas.  It's mildly sweet and earthly and provides less of a punch compared to black/green teas.  It's never overpowering, even if accidentally over steeped.  While naturally containing caffeine, I still find this to be a very calming and soothing drink.  I prefer to drink it as is, but once in awhile I love adding honey or raw sugar... just in case you're wondering :)

I highly recommend that you consider trying Triple Leaf White Tea or at least white tea in general.  I originally bought mine on Vitacost.com (save in bulk!) and also found it in the "natural health" section near the pharmacy at my local supermarket.  Let me know some of your favorite teas!  If you enjoyed please google+, comment and join this site (follow) for more.  You have an amazing rest of your day and see YOU on Thursday!

Love ya lots,
Richelle

Simple Sunday - Fifty Shades of Grey & Strawberry Shortcake!

Simple Sunday - Fifty Shades of Grey & Strawberry Shortcake!

Hello, everyone!  No time, no post.. just kidding.  I love having posts two days in a row!  I hope you're not sick of me ;)  For today's Simple Sunday post, you're following me for part of my evening. Here's the rest of the scoop!

Paul surprised me and took us to see Fifty Shades of Grey--finally!  It's been a long time coming.. I've been dying to see the film since the trailer release.  It was good, but pretty crazy!  Will admit, haven't read the books YET but plan on it very soon, especially with the way the movie ended!  I'm about 1/3 through the Harry Potter books, so I don't want to stop halfway.  I actually own the trilogy and they've been staring from my bookshelf.  They were a bargain at a nearby thrift store--.20 cents a piece!

Onto evening's dessert, I present to you my Classic Strawberry Shortcake.  This is one of my favorite recipes and oh so delicious!  Normally I make this in the summer when strawberries are in season, but they were actually on sale this week, so why not?  Super easy to make, just slice up a pound of fresh strawberries and stir in some lemon juice and 1/4 cup of sugar.  Chill in the fridge for a few hours.. serve out the sponge cake in bowls, top with your strawberry mixture and ta-da you've got Strawberry Shortcake!  Didn't think I'd throw a recipe in there, did ya?!

Aurora and Samantha wanted to wish you a Happy Sunday and a great
week ahead!  They wanted to be included in today's post ;)

Well there's another Simple Sunday for ya!  For the rest of the day we're off to grab dinner and catch up on a few shows.  So, how was your day?  Anyone of you see Fifty Shades of Grey or read it?  Share your thoughts!  I'd love to hear them below.  If you enjoyed please google+, comment and join this site (follow) for more.  You have an amazing rest of your day and see YOU on Tuesday!

Love ya lots,
Richelle
