Happy New Year! New Years Resolutions & Goals 2017

I did a bit of doodling :)
Hello, everyone!  HAPPY NEW YEAR! *Almost* Or I should say, HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE!  2016 completely flew by and I know everyone says it, but seriously -- it feels like I was just decorating for Halloween last week!  Oh.. do I miss Fall and Halloween :)

But this post isn't about my fall blues, now is it?  Nope, it's not.  I will be sharing my New Year's Resolutions for 2017 and I have three.  Here it goes!

RESOLUTIONS:

#1 - Minimize my Life
This fall I discovered minimalism and I'm completely intrigued.  The idea of simplifying and only keeping what you love sounds amazing to me.  I've always decluttered, but in 2017 I'm a taking it to a NEXT LEVEL and GOOD NEWS:  I'm taking you along with me!  I will be sharing my journey.

#2 - Read More Books
I used to read all the time and I want to get back to that.  The older you get, the harder it is to make the time!  I'm going to improve that.

#3 - Grow my Shop
I recently relaunched my Etsy Shop: Freckled Moonchild where I sell enchanting decor and accessories.  In 2017, I want to expand my product line with new designs and grow my shop's Instagram (I've been LOVING this app!!).  My username is Freckled_Moonchild.

We love our daily walks!
Of course, I can't forget to mention, to keep enjoying life with my amazing boyfriend and animals :) I'm very lucky to call them family and loving life is always what we strive for isn't it?

Those are all my goals and resolutions!  What are some of yours?  If you want to share, let me know down below :)

I hope you enjoyed!  Feel free to follow my site for future posts.  As always, thanks for stopping by :)  Have a great day and talk with you soon!

Lots of Love,

LOVE FOR 5 - December Favorites 2016

Hey, everyone!  Believe it or not, it's already time for LOVE FOR 5 for December... fall has come and gone and winter is in FULL SWING!  I live in Michigan and it's super snowy and chilly -- mother nature is not joking around anymore!

Along with the wintery weather, I chose five items that are very much winter appropriate :)  There's a blend of beauty, food and home -- let's get started!

Please note: This post contains affiliate links through Magic Links.

This is my current moisturizer and it's been perfect for my skin.  I was on the hunt for the right cream that would work for my dry, sensitive skin and would also work day and night.  For my skin, less products, the better.  This was just what I needed!

It's been ages since I've worn polish, but last week I decided to finally paint my nails again and I'm LOVING this color!  It's a super dark almost black-purple shade and it surprisingly lasts long on my nails.  I had four days before any chipping-- that's success for me!

3.  Sundown Naturals Biotin Gummies 1000mcg
This is kinda home and beauty related, but I just had to share!  I love taking biotin because it helps so much with your hair and in my case, nails.  Winter is so hard on them and these have been helping prevent cracking and helping them continue to grow!  Plus, these taste like candy... need I say more?

I love this tea and it has been my go-to at nighttime since it is caffeine free.  It has an amazing cinnamon and apple flavor... it also smells delicious!  I can't believe this tea is only $2!

5.  Biddeford Micro Plush Heated Throw
Last, but certainly not least, I NEEDED to share this heated blanket.  When combined with the previous items, it makes for the perfect toasty evening!  I bought this at Target last year and no joke-- I got it on clearance for -- wait for it -- $7.  Yes, you read that right!  I LOVE this throw and especially the cheetah print and the size... not too big or too small.  It's so cozy :)

There are my five favorites for the month!  What are you loving?  Let me know down below!

I hope you enjoyed!  Feel free to follow my site for future posts.  As always, thanks for stopping by :)  Have a great day and talk with you soon!

Merry Christmas & 2 Year Blog Anniversary -- THANK YOU!

Hello, everyone.. I wanted to make a quick post to wish you all Merry Christmas Eve and Happy Holidays :)  I hope you all have amazing weekend and it doesn't get too stressful!

Today also marks my two year blog anniversary and I wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU. It's crazy to think that just two years ago, I was sitting at my same laptop writing my first ever post :)  I had no idea what I was doing, what I'd write about or how to set everything up.  Luckily, now I do.

There was a point were life took over and I took a break from blogging, but I'm so happy to be back.  Fall was such a great time to start again!  I want to continue posting 1-2/week which is Tuesdays and most Saturdays.

Written in colored pencil... just a little doodle I felt like doing!
Anyways, I'm very excited for the New Year and I have MANY new ideas in store!  I hope you guys are excited!!  Again, thank you for all your support and time you take to stop and check out my page :)  You are so appreciated -- I hope you know it!!

Alright --- enough already!  Go have some festive fun and relax :)  That's what I will be doing!  Love you all and thanks again.  Happy Holidays!

Teas I Took Traveling!

Hello, everyone!  I wanted to do a quick post on Teas I Brought Traveling.. anyone else bring their favorite tea bags with them?  It's something I've always done and as I was packing to go up north, it reminded me that I should stop and share them with you!

Being the huge tea lover, whenever I go out of town, I always pack some tea.  It's kinda like bringing a piece of home and coziness with me and teabags are so easy to pack!  Literally for YEARS I have used the same clear pouch (it's an old sample bag from BareMinerals) and it holds everything perfectly.  I can hold over a dozen tea bags -- not bad!

When I fill my pouch for a trip, I love to fill it with as much variety as I can.. different brands and flavors.  I'm happy with what I brought, but next time, I want to include a few more herbal teas.  I didn't realize at the time that there's A LOT of black teas!  Anyways, I'll stop blabbing so you can see what I have!  I hope you like this idea :)

The List:
Some teas I have reviewed in Tea Tuesday Posts, so I'll link them for you if you're interested :)

Twinning's Teas (I purchased the Black Tea Sampler Set and it includes 4 top selling black teas. I recommend!) I have a review HERE.
Twinning's English Breakfast Tea
Twinning's Irish Breakfast Tea
Twinning's Lady Grey Tea

TAZO Apricot Vanilla Creme White Tea (REVIEW)- One of my favorites! Sweet and mild flavor.

Yogi Vanilla Spice Perfect Energy Tea (REVIEW)- Also a favorite and it tastes like dessert!  I love drinking this alone or with something sweet like muffins or cookies... makes a perfect cozy treat :)

Bigelow Green Tea - Such a classic!  I never travel without at least a few green teas!

Bigelow Earl Grey Tea - Gotta love some Earl Grey.. I tend to drink this in the A.M. and I love the mild black tea flavor it has with a spoonful of sugar.

Do you bring tea with you when you travel too?  Let me know down below!  I'd love to hear your favorites.

I hope you enjoyed!  Feel free to follow my site for future posts.  As always, thanks for stopping by :)  Have a great day and talk with you soon!

Christmas Loft Tour 2016 - Small Home Decorating

Hello, everyone!  With Christmas being only 12 days away--- I know crazy, right?! -- I wanted to share with you our Christmas Apartment Tour 2016.  I wanted to keep it a bit minimal but festive and I'm very happy with how everything turned out.

My boyfriend Paul and I live in cozy 2-bed loft style apartment in Michigan with our animals (can't forget to mention them!) and I decorated most of the first floor.  I FINALLY purchased my first DSLR camera, so most of these pictures were taken with the Canon T6, if you're curious.  I was so excited that it arrived in time for this post!!

Anyways, welcome to my place :)  I hope you enjoy this post and get inspired to decorate even if you have limited space.  Normally we chose a full size real tree, but this year we went with a real tabletop tree and it saved a bunch of floor space!  I'll stop chatting for now.... lets roll the pics!  Let just say, I may have gotten a little picture crazy ;)

I love this little penguin and you can find him at Dollar Tree!
Since we went with a tabletop tree, I used a fleece scarf as a
mini tree skirt.  It worked really well!

On our breakfast bar I placed lighted garland (here's the DIY!), pinecone
candles and Bath and Body Works Mahogany Balsam Candle.
These are my favorite stockings!  I love the rustic style.
Our main setup :)  I really wanted to make the tree and fireplace
the center of attention!
I love this Santa tin and I found this at Dollar Tree as well!
Fit my Candle-lite Company Apple Cinnamon Crisp Candle perfectly!
The kitchen towels are from Target.. haha Aurora had to be included!
A few more decorations at the end of our kitchen table.

Here's how everything looks in daylight.
Our view from the loft window :)  I love the large snowy trees!
Always a favorite... dog sled team with lights above the doorway.
Decorating above windows is great for smaller places!

There's the Christmas Tour Round Up!  It's always so special to take the time to decorate :)  I hope you're all having an amazing holiday month so far!

What's your favorite Christmas activity or tradition?  Share with me in the comments! -- Mine's baking cookies and watching Christmas movies!

I hope you enjoyed!  Feel free to follow my site for future posts.  As always, thanks for stopping by :)  Have a great day and talk with you soon!

Scents of the Month - December 2016 - Bath and Body Works & More!

Hello, everyone!  Welcome back for December's Scents of the Month!  This is my favorite new monthly series where I share all the candles and home fragrance that I'm currently using.  I love burning candles and making my home smell nice.. plus it's always fun to pair certain scents for the season!

For December, I have several new items and I love how they all work together.  As always, I have a pair of Bath and Body Wallflowers on my first floor with two candles and one candle in our loft bedroom.  This number works well for us, but when it comes to candles the more the MERRIER, right?!

First Floor:  Starting with the pair of Bath and Body Works Wallflowers, we chose the scent Cinnamon Pinecone.  The key notes are Cinnamon Bark, Fresh Pine, and Aromatic Cedar.  Cinnamon is one of my favorite scents and combined with the pine.. well, that's Christmas for ya!  We love the fresh festive smell it gives!

Living Room:  Bath and Body Works Mahogany 3-Wick Candle is main candle in the living room.  The key notes are Fresh Green Balsam, Juniper Berries, and Rich Mahogany.. this literally smells like a fresh cut Christmas Tree!  My boyfriend Paul specifically picked this one :)  Plus, it fits right in with our decorations!

First Floor Bath:  Moving on to our bathroom, I chose Candlelite Company Apple Cinnamon Crisp.  It has a delicious sweet apple smell with just a dash of cinnamon and the wax is the perfect red for this time of year.  I've been really enjoying this one and the scent lingers in the bath so well!

Loft Bedroom:  Lastly, we have one candle left upstairs and it is Candlelite Company Pumpkin Nutmeg Pie.  This is actually leftover from last month and I'm finishing it up.  I do love the scent of pumpkin and spices, but I prefer Candlelite Company Cinnamon Pecan Swirl much more.

Those are the chosen candles this month!  What's your favorite scent?  Let me know down below.

Miss November's candle selection?  No worries, here it is: Scents of the Month - November 2016

Tea Tuesday December - Teavana Gingerbread Black Tea Review

Hello, everyone!  Thanks for stopping by for another Tea Tuesday!  December's tea is a pretty festive one and it is no other than Teavana Gingerbread Black Tea.

I discovered this delicious tea last year and it has been a favorite ever since.  This is hands down the "potpourri" of the tea world... it truly has a bit of everything!  Haha sometimes it's fun just to look at! It has a base of black tea along with cinnamon, rooibos, chicory root, candied ginger pieces, apple pieces, cloves and much more.  This tea is full of flavor and has the fun mix to prove it!

I love this tea mixture!
Gingerbread Black Tea does have caffeine and is rated 1/4 on Teavana's caffeine level scale, making it a safe choice for those who can be sensitive to high amounts of caffeine.  It's a very simple formula to work with and takes only three mins to steep and you can easily reuse the leaves for a second round.  I always use Teavana Perfect Tea Maker for all my loose leaf teas and it works very well.

The flavor is pretty full and sweet on its own, so I only add extra sugar if I really have a sweet tooth that day.  Of course, this tea tastes amazing with a dash of honey or raw sugar... and lets be honest, I usually have a major sweet tooth!

Close up of the tea steeping in the Perfect Tea Maker.
Teavana Gingerbread Black Tea is one of my most unique and treasured teas in my collection, so I just had to share it :)  Keep in mind that it is Limited Edition ... so depressing, I KNOW!

Here's November's Tea Tuesday in case you missed it:

What are some of your favorite teas at the moment?  Let me know down below!

I hope you enjoyed!  Feel free to follow my site for future posts.  As always, thanks for stopping by :)  Have a great day and talk with you soon!

DIY Lighted Garland for The Holidays!

Hello, everyone!  The holiday season is officially among us, so here's a festive DIY to get the decorating started... decorating is ALWAYS one of my favorite traditions!

I will be showing you how to make Lighted Christmas Garland that uses only a few supplies and will definitely show some holiday cheer :)  Yes, I know that was a bit cheesy.. but I couldn't help myself!

One of the best parts of this project was that I FINALLY cleared out a ton of ribbon that has been piling up and not getting used.  You can easily customize depending on the types of ribbon (color/prints/material/width), color of lights and length of the ribbon pieces.  I would love to make this for Halloween next year!

Here's what you need to do:

The Supplies:

Strand of lights - mine are LED white bulbs 12ft long

Ribbon - loads of it!  I used up leftovers and you can get inexpensive ribbon at Dollar Tree and Michaels as well.  Feel free to mix up the size, patterns and textures.

Ruler

Cardboard piece -optional

Scissors

Directions:

1.  First you want to prep all your ribbon and decide the length you want to work with.  I chose 8" for all my ribbon pieces.

2.  Quick tip:  to help cut all the ribbon faster, I took a piece of cardboard and cut it 8".  Then wrapped it several times and cut each end.  This saved me a lot of time!

3.  Once all your ribbon is cut, tie away!  Make sure to double knot each piece and spread out each color/pattern evenly across the strand of lights.  No exact pattern needed, just want it to look even!

4.  As you tie the ribbon make sure to fill in any noticeable gaps on the lights.

Then you're done!  Very simple, but can be time consuming... I watched some Netflix.  If you want this to go faster, you can use wider ribbon that's 2-3" wide.

I just LOVE how this came together!  I think I'm going to lay it across my breakfast bar, which I can see from my kitchen and living room.  You could also hang it above a fireplace, window or any mantel.. the ideas are endless!

If you make this garland, I'd love to know :)  Have fun and happy decorating!!

I hope you enjoyed!  Feel free to follow my site for future posts.  As always, thanks for stopping by :)  Have a great day!  Talk with you soon!

Lots of Love,
