DIY Lighted Garland for The Holidays!

Hello, everyone!  The holiday season is officially among us, so here's a festive DIY to get the decorating started... decorating is ALWAYS one of my favorite traditions!

I will be showing you how to make Lighted Christmas Garland that uses only a few supplies and will definitely show some holiday cheer :)  Yes, I know that was a bit cheesy.. but I couldn't help myself!

One of the best parts of this project was that I FINALLY cleared out a ton of ribbon that has been piling up and not getting used.  You can easily customize depending on the types of ribbon (color/prints/material/width), color of lights and length of the ribbon pieces.  I would love to make this for Halloween next year!

Here's what you need to do:

The Supplies:

Strand of lights - mine are LED white bulbs 12ft long

Ribbon - loads of it!  I used up leftovers and you can get inexpensive ribbon at Dollar Tree and Michaels as well.  Feel free to mix up the size, patterns and textures.

Ruler

Cardboard piece -optional

Scissors

Directions:

1.  First you want to prep all your ribbon and decide the length you want to work with.  I chose 8" for all my ribbon pieces.

2.  Quick tip:  to help cut all the ribbon faster, I took a piece of cardboard and cut it 8".  Then wrapped it several times and cut each end.  This saved me a lot of time!

3.  Once all your ribbon is cut, tie away!  Make sure to double knot each piece and spread out each color/pattern evenly across the strand of lights.  No exact pattern needed, just want it to look even!

4.  As you tie the ribbon make sure to fill in any noticeable gaps on the lights.

Then you're done!  Very simple, but can be time consuming... I watched some Netflix.  If you want this to go faster, you can use wider ribbon that's 2-3" wide.

I just LOVE how this came together!  I think I'm going to lay it across my breakfast bar, which I can see from my kitchen and living room.  You could also hang it above a fireplace, window or any mantel.. the ideas are endless!

If you make this garland, I'd love to know :)  Have fun and happy decorating!!

I hope you enjoyed!  Feel free to follow my site for future posts.  As always, thanks for stopping by :)  Have a great day!  Talk with you soon!

Lots of Love,

Richelle
