Dresser Declutter - Clothes Clean Out - Hello Minimalism Series

Hello, everyone!  Now that we've decluttered the master closet, I wanted to move onto the dresser where we keep most of our clothes.  Between the dresser and closet, that's the bulk of the loft that needed to be looked it.

Like with the closet, my boyfriend Paul and I share the dresser and he helped with the declutter process.  It's a long wooden dresser that has 4 smaller drawers and 4 double wide drawers.  The current setup works for us, but areas have become very crowded.  Let's change that ASAP!

BEFORE:

Right off the bat, I started with one drawer at a time.  The long drawers I completely emptied and place the clothing on the bed to be sorted.  Then with the small drawers, I would pull them out and sort them on the bed without removing everything.

As always, I created 3 piles: to toss, to keep and to donate.  I did this with all of my drawers and Paul did the same with his.

TO DECLUTTER:

Here's everything that we are decluttering!  The left is going in the garbage because it includes very worn out clothing that is not worth giving away and the right is for the thrift store to donate.  Excluding the socks, there's over 30 items in the pile!  Not bad!  This is easily an entire load of laundry.

AFTER:

Once we cleared out all the unwanted clothing, I reorganized all the drawers.  I've always folded my clothes this way, but this time I did it to Paul's drawers as well.  It makes it so much easier to see everything!

I'm still working on improving my wardrobe, especially since I removed many items that weren't working for me.  I'm not necessarily looking towards having a capsule wardrobe, but I do want to bring more black and grey into my style.  There are also some basics I plan to pick up throughout the year.

Those are the updated drawers except for our underwear drawers (no one needs to see those!).  I have a total of 2 small drawers and 1 long drawer for all my clothes.. I also hang the rest of my wardrobe in the closet.  Then Paul has hung clothes in the closet, 2 small drawers and 2 long drawers.

The amount of space has always worked for us, but now it's even better.  I do the laundry and I know that this clear out is going to make a difference when putting clean clothes away!  Every little bit counts, you know?

Above is a picture of the very top long dresser drawer that is now completely empty... that was the goal and I don't need to keep clothes in there anymore!  My plans are to store my bath bombs, skincare and miscellaneous beauty products inside.  (so far it's working great!)

Dresser declutter down!  So happy that it is completed... the loft declutters are half way done.  Have you been decluttering?

I hope you enjoyed!  Feel free to follow my site for future posts.  As always, thanks for stopping by :)  Have a great day and talk with you soon!

Lots of Love,

Richelle
